Further details

LEMESOS (Limassol) and its environs

The island’s second largest city, Lemesos (Limassol) spreads out between two ancient city-kingdoms, Amathous to the east and Kourion to the west, two of the most spectacular archaeological sites in Cyprus. It is the island’s main port, the centre of the wine industry and a bustling holiday resort. Wander round the narrow streets of the old town radiating out from the fishing harbour. The medieval castle was the site of the royal wedding in the Middle ages between Richard the Lionheart and Berengaria of Navarre, and now houses the Cyprus Medieval Museum, Browse through the array of goods and produce in the atmospheric Market. The town’s inhabitants are renowned for their love of sun so not surprisingly the nightlife is varied, with all sorts of tavernas, discos and clubs.Enjoy a summer concert under the stars in the Greco-Roman theatre of Kourion, or join in September, or have fun at the Carnival with its fancy dress chariot parade and parties.

 PAFOS and its environs

Aphrodite’s realm. In antiquity Pafos was the centre of the cult of Aphrodite.Swim in the sea by the rocks known as Petra tou Romiou where the goddess was believed to have risen from the waves, make a pilgrimmage to her sanctuary at Kouklia, or visit the grotto near Polis where she was supposed to have bathed. Pafos, with its pleasant harbour and medieval fort, combines a cosmopolitan holiday resort, spectacular countryside and historical sites. It was the capital of Cyprus for 600 years in ancient times and its archaeological legacy is such that UNESCO put the whole town on its World Cultural Heritage List. The intricate floor mosaics in villas dating back to the Roman period depicting scenes from Greek mythology are considered among the finest in the Eastern Mediterranean. Equally impressive are the underground Tombs of the Kings carved out of solid rock and decorated with Doric pillars. The museum at Maa-Paleokastro near Coral Bay has an interesting collection of artefacts from the period of Mycenean Greek colonisation of Cyprus.

Byzantine treasures abound, such as the remarkable five-domed church of Agia Paraskevi in Geroskipou, or the ruins of two early Christian basilicas at Agios Georgios in Pegia.

The monastery of Agios Neofytos has wonderfully colourful frescoes painted on the walls in a cave that the hermit carved out of the mountain.Chrysorrogiatissa monastery is worth visiting for its fine icons and a taste of the locally produced vintage wine from its own winery.

If peace and quiet in harmony with nature are what you are after, head for the Polis area. The Akamas peninsula is an area of natural wilderness with dramatic coastlines and sandy coves. Here you can explore the various picturesque villages, walk along one of the many scenic nature trails or take a boat trip along the dramatic coastline that all form part of Aphrodite’s playground.

Beneath the whispering pines.Take a trip into the mountains for a refreshing break from the heat of the central plains and the coast. Rising to almost 2000 metres above sea level, the Troodos peaks provide panoramic views and place to go skiing in winter.Charming villages, some with cobbled streets and preserved folk architecture, nestle on terraced slopes amid vineyards and orchards of almond, hazelnut and cherry trees. Stop off at one of the cafes or restaurants next to a burbling mountain stream and try one of the preserved fruit desserts served as a typical island welcome, or dine on the locally produced rainbow trout, a speciality in the region.

Spend the day walking along one of the many nature trails, resting at a picnic site along the way, or visit the Visitor Centre in the Troodos forest park area. The Cedar Valley is home to an unusually large number of Cypriot cedars and so far from the madding crowds that the only sounds you will hear when you switch off the engine of your car are those of nature. In the evening nightingales songs will lull you to sleep.

The Troodos mountains are where the painted churches of Cyprus, superb examples of Byzantine art,can be found. The church of Agios Nicolaos tis Stegis in Kakopetria, together with those of Asinou and of Panagia tou Araka in the village of Lagoudera, are considered to be some of the most outstanding on the island. Kykkos Monastery, the largest on the island, has an excellent Byzantine museum and a golden icon of the Virgin Mary, allegedly painted by St.Luke

Pleasant Stay

Hi Philipos,

vacation is over and we are back home since a few days now. I have a small conclusion of our vacation and want to give you some feedback. It was our first holiday in Cyprus and certainly not the last. We have learned a wonderful island with friendly people, a great landscape and excellent food! And with the Villa Sheromily we had a really good accommodation! Retrospectively with Pissouri as location and Vineland Developments as landlord we did a very good choice! Your houses are very well furnished and the service with our small problems had been well, too.
We wanted to say goodbye personally, but unfortunately the office was closed on Sunday before our departure, so I do it by EMail now. We will definitely come back again.
Thank you for making our stay a pleasant one!

Best regards,

"One of the best holidays we have had"

Took the whole family to pissouri in July 2011 looking for 2 week break the villa was fantastic with everything you need for luxury holiday. The village was very traditional just what wanted with some great places to eat . Take time to visit the Vineland owned by the brothers who own the villa which was the best in the village . The service from the owners in particular Anne Marie was fantastic any help or info required we just needed to ask . We loved every minute of our stay and will return One of the best holidays ever Stuart , Maggie & family

Review Title : 946125 - "Fantastic villa in stunning setting"

"Just back from a wonderful fortnight in the villa. Beautiful inside and outside. Views from the garden are amazing - could see the Red Arrows practice stunts over the sea miles away. Easy to make the pool safe for kids with it being on the lower garden level - we just put a sun lounger across when playing in the garden. Owners were great - we reported a problem with the cooker after our first try at using it and they replaced the whole thing within 2 hours. Pool and garden were well looked after by a friendly local man who came early every few days. The area is lovely, loads of places to eat, beach was family friendly and only 5 mins drive away. 2 good supermarkets close by (one in village and one big one 5 mins drive away- Papantoniou. look upstairs for everything you could need for the beach). We have an almost 2 and almost 4 year old and it was a great holiday for them and us, relaxation from running a business is essential and we really got it here. Would recommend a visit to the Camel Park by Limassol for those with kids. Kourion excavations also excellent. A car is essential here as the roads are very steep and narrow - driving through the village takes some getting used to but you just have to relax and go with the flow here. Cyprus night on a Wed night in Pissourri square is an experience! Food doesn't start till 8 though so if going with kids feed them first on that night, otherwise you can eat at any time of day and our kids were made so welcome every where we went. Can't wait to go back!"

We had a fantastic holiday here. The villa was great and had everything we needed (better than home!) and was lovely and clean. The views from the terrace and the bedroom were amazing. A lovely place to be - we were a family of four and we just chilled and the pool was great for cooling off! We'd definitely recommend it and are hoping to return. Also the people who own the villa out in Cyprus were great - always on hand with advice. I'd recommend a car when staying here. For your info Pissouri old town is lovely but it's quite hilly.

We just wanted to say thank you to you all for our lovely stay at your villa in Pissouri. The villa was perfect and the views were just amazing.

Could you please pass on our thanks and best wishes to all or your team and the lovely guy who looks after the garden/pool who kindly lent me his phone charger.

We had a great time and definitely hope to return. Hope the rest of the summer goes well.

Best regards

Venus Villa Pissouri Bay

PAULY RAWLY Kingswinford, West Midlands, UK
Review Submitted: November 6, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We booked a week's holiday at the Venus villa in Pissouri Bay after looking at the pictures on the website and falling in love with the villa and the surrounding landscapes. We run our own busy business and have two young children (7 and 8) so needed a week somewhere quiet to get away from all the stresses and pressures of everyday life but also somewhere where the boys could enjoy the sea or a swimming pool safely.

We arrived at the villa early on a Saturday morning after booking an early check in at the villa with the letting agent. The owner met us at the villa and was VERY accommodating and after briefly showing us around left and came back almost immediately with some provisions for us. The owner then proceeded to show us around the villa an how to use the various appliances. Everything in the villa is top quality from the oven to the washing machine to the dishwasher etc etc. The villa is very modern and extremely spacious and although there were only four of us it would sleep six adults comfortably. The views from the villa are also spectacular of the sea and the mountains. We didn't hire a car during our stay at the villa but were able to walk comfortably to the village square and the various bars, tavernas and restaurants. All of which were very child friendly with good quality food with a good atmosphere with locals and tourists alike. We have already recommended the villa to our friends and family and will definitely be booking again ourselves as soon as we can spare more time out from our business. Thank you to Phillipos the owner and his sister-in-law for making us feel so welcome and for providing us with such top quality, luxury accommodation
and first rate customer care.
